The brief
Technical search recovery, investigation and traffic controls for an ecommerce store.
After a relaunch the store's search traffic fell away. Google was being turned away from parts of the site, old addresses led nowhere, the traffic looked busier than it was, and a broken mobile layout appeared on one device while other tests passed.
The work
Unblock Google and route the dead ends it kept hitting to the live pages.
Trace the junk traffic through analytics and request evidence, then put edge rules in front of the store.
Repair the cache policy behind the device-only fault and check every affected journey again.

The decision that matters
Google had been turned away about twelve times a minute; that fell to none, and the dead ends it hit each day fell 72%. Within two months organic revenue was up 204% from the low after the relaunch. Separately, non-UK sessions fell 84% once the new edge rules went live.
